This thread will not be replaced next week. Fotost has kindly agreed to create a 'marker' on the 21st February to enable folk to add a new image to the thread for the following week. As long as folk play fair this should not be a problem and we will be back to normal by the 28th February.
Remember those days when the tele went off and there was a large sign
NORMAL SERVICE
WILL BE RESUMED
AS SOON AS POSSIBLE
Hopefully this will be the case. Good snapping in the meantime

Following an idea by Jacquie Wilkes and discussed in the UK Chat Forum for a place to exhibit our favourite images a weekly Exhibition was suggested. SO ... This is the place where members can display one of their favourite photos for others to comment on. The Exhibition runs for a week and will be deleted next Wednesday evening at 7.p.m. (Or as near as I can get!) As with all Exhibitions chatter is frowned upon - silence whilst viewing, your thoughts can be expressed either in the member's Gallery or in the UK Chat forum under the appropriate thread

I have noticed that clicking on this link simply brings you back to this page. If however you copy and paste the link into your browser it will take you to the original thread.
Any queries/comments/jokes please visit the information desk which will be found at the above address.
For Exhibitors - one photo per week. (Please don't change your entry - there is always next week.) The photo should be entered into your Gallery with a copy posted into this thread and a link back to the photo (not your whole Gallery or a blog) posted with it. Any queries as to 'How to' please ask at the information desk (Address above).
I hope that folk will try to comment on the photos in this thread - many folk are not as well known as some and all the entries deserve to be viewed with enthusiasm and encouragement. It is a way for the hidden gems of this site to be viewed by other members. Could I also ask members who see a 'gem' whilst browsing the Gallery to ask the photographer to post it here. I think in the first instance if the member's contact button is activated then an email to ask the member to post the image. However this should not prevent gems you have seen from being brought to the notice of other members. We all love to see really great photos, no matter where they are from.
No competition entries.
Enjoy the Gallery.
Any that were posted recently can be re posted in this thread.

Hi,
I just bought an X-S1. I've had Canon cameras before and was waiting for them to build the ultimate prosumer/bridge camera, but it seems Fuji beat them to it.
Anyway, whilst poring over the manual and pressing the buttons I think I have found a discrepancy between the manual and the function of the camera.
When in P, S, A or M mode pressing the AE button is supposed to bring up 3 choices - MULTI, SPOT and AVERAGE - according to page 45 of the manual. I only get MULTI, which is an annoyance as I have frequently used the spot meter before. In the custom modes C1, C2 and C3 I do see the 3 choices, so the function is supported to some degree.
Is this a bug in the software, or am I displaying ignorance of what the other modes do? At any rate the manual and camera are not aligned.
Apologies if this is not a forum topic. If anyone can point me at a Fuji technical help resource that would be great.
Regards,
Steve

I've just found this and thought it might be of interest to someone - only availably today 22 February 2012!
Its quick and easy to install and is much easier than achieving the same effect in Photoshop.

I will try to continue the Black and White Member's Gallery in Dean's absence. Below are the guidelines with a slight change. To fit into my schedule better I will post it to run from Monday to Sunday.
To share your best black and white photos, upload the black and white photo into your gallery, then insert the photo into this thread linking it to the url of the photo in your gallery. (alternatively you could just paste the link below/above your photo)
Feel free to add any links to other member's black and white images, conversation articles etc. that you feel should be featured. You can include those with your gallery entry in this thread.
p.s. Please only post 1 of your black and white photos per week and also, comment on submitted photos in their owners gallery's, and not on this post.
*I will do this for as long as I can but if anyone else would like to take over please let me know.*

I have just purchased a cable shutter release that was designed and made by a member of this site, this is an extremely well made attachment and does not look out of place when positioned on the camera, it has a very smooth action and is far superior in looks to any other attachement I have come across on the web I would recommend this to anyone looking for a automatic shutter release for thier Hs 10
I have not met the person who makes these and do not have any financial gain out of recommending this design

HI,, I usually print my pics out to the standard frame sizes.. 10x8...8x6..ect but in my HS10 i have it set to L4:3 fine.. I always have to crop some of the picture off to fit 10x8. . 8x6 , Is this because of the 3:3 setting in my camers ?,,,. thanks
